So you feel that Susie and Jack are finally old enough to really enjoy a camping weekend, but when you look over your gear it looks as if it was made in the Stone Ages. You’re a veteran camper and you know good and well that having the right camping equipment makes a world of difference – so before you head out, first have a look at how your camping style has changed.

Your ultra-light solo tent will have to stay home this time. You’re thinking more towards getting a new multi-room family tent so that the kids are close by but you still have a bit of privacy. You let the kids choose their sleeping bags; all they see are the pretty colours, but you keep an eye out for quality craftsmanship and the appropriate temperature ratings as well. Regarding cooking gear you’re still in pretty good shape, but that tiny single burner stove will need to be traded in for a double or you’re going to have a very hungry crew on your hands.
